Virtual Private Network
The UUPlus Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used to securely access a user's satellite email account over the public Internet. A secure connection is made between the UUPlus client and UUPlus server and mail is sent back and forth. The VPN transfers batched and compressed mail in the same manner as mail is transferred via a satellite phone connection. A VPN link can be created from a full-time Internet connection or a standard dialup connection.
The UUPlus VPN will be useful for users who would like to access their mail while in areas with standard Internet access. Users of M4 and the MPDS will find the UUPlus VPN especially usefull.
M4 users without MPDS should use VPN over a standard dialup connection. M4 users with MPDS should use VPN with a full-time connection.
